Cory-Merrill is a wonderful place to raise a family. The central location of this Denver neighborhood, between the Denver Tech Center and downtown Denver, makes it an ideal location. The land where Cory-Merrill real estate are located has a unique history. This area was, at one time, a part of the town known as South Denver. This town was founded in 1858 as a dry town. Some of the residents of Denver felt like the saloon business had taken over Denver, so they founded South Denver. Today, the town of South Denver has become separate neighborhoods, including Belcaro, Bonnie Brae and, of course, is the home of Cory-Merrill luxury homes.
In those early years, most of the land around Cory-Merrill luxury homes was ranchland and farmland. There were orchards, as well as cattle ranches. Eventually, two schools sprung up in this area: Cory Elementary School and Merrill Junior High. These two schools were named after two of the most influential educators in Denver’s history, Louise Merrill and John Cory. The neighborhood surrounding these schools came to be referred to as “Cory-Merrill.”
