Congress Park Real Estate & Luxury Homes

The story behind the naming of Congress Park real estate dates back a long ways. This land was once owned by the United States government. It was given to the government as an outcome of a treaty involving the Arapahoe. Originally, much of the land that makes up Congress Park real estate was used as a cemetery.

The cemetery was known as Prospect Hill Cemetery. Eventually, the cemetery started to get a little run down. Time took its toll. The cemetery wasn’t well maintained, and became something of an eyesore as it fell further and further into disrepair.

The residents who lived nearby petitioned to have the cemetery made into a park. Eventually, the United States congress agreed to the change in use. The bodies that were interred there were moved, and the park was named “Congress Park” in honor of the U.S. congress and their decision to allow the land to be used as a park. The name stuck, and the neighborhood surrounding the park eventually took on the park’s name.
